Marvelous May Days--Part Five

She's all grown up and graduated! We couldn't have asked for a better Kindergarten year for Laynie. She only had 12 children in her class all year long! When someone asked her who was her best friend in her class, she just answered, "Well I like them all, they're all my friends." How sweet! Hopefully that attitude will last a lifetime! She learned to read (really well) and write too! She loved art class the most! She loved her teacher, Mrs. Turner and her teacher loved her! What more could you ask for?

Kindergarten Train Field TripThe K teachers at City Heights wrote a grant and ALL the Kindergarten students were allowed to ride the train from Van Buren to Winslow for FREE. Parents and siblings were invited to go as well so we made it a family affair. Nothing like a train ride with 40+ kindergarteners, four sack lunches, no air, and a tunnel with many squealing children!! Trey even took off for a few hours to make the trip--it was definitely a memory!!

First Place Academy Field Trip to Paul's Bakery

Jones and his friends were dressed in tie die and ready to eat some goodies at Paul's Bakery!! All the kiddos kept asking will Mr. Paul be there? I didn't really even know there was an actual "Mr. Paul," but there he was! An older gentleman in the back of the kitchen anticipating the kids and their reactions--super sweet. I wonder how many cookies/doughnuts he's seen throughout his lifetime?

We took a quick tour to see how the cookie dough, doughnuts, and cakes were made and iced. There was only one rule--NO TOUCHING! (We almost broke that one--so tempting)
However, each child did get a spoonful of icing--yummy. The trip wound up with doughnut holes and milk for a snack!!! Then most of the Mommies purchased a super cute cookie or two (or three)to put in their lunches (like they needed any more sugar after all that)!Can you tell Ms. Amy is excited about taking the kids back to school after all this fun?

Marvelous May Days--Part One

As I look back over all my photos from the month of May, it occurred to me that we truly were extremely busy (that's why the blog suffered, daddy)!

Sermon on the Mound was the prayZkidz spring musical at our church. Amy and I were the co-directors--she took care of the singing and I worked with the actors. It was more challenging than I thought it would be at times, but overall it went really well! The soloists and actors/actresses did a fantastic job, and yes Laynie was a soloist! Chech out our cool stage!

Bestest Buddies

These next few posts will mainly be to make me feel better. I had such a busy 'end of the school year' and spring that I was such a slacker on blogging so this is my attempt to get my blog up to speed!

Jones and Avery have been such good friends since Avery moved to Van Buren (maybe it had something to do with their Mommies being best buddies as well)! We love having play days every now and then and what little boy doesn't like the rain?

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, ...

VBS has been a blast this week! I honestly don't know how I'll be able to go through VBS over the next few years without Mr. Pepper and Chelsea. Don't get me wrong it was a TON of work, but I really have enjoyed it--I probably just won't mention what my VBS role has been in the past. I'll just be a happy volunteer!

So we have averaged close to 640 kids all week--WOW (150 of those have been 4s and 5s--crazy)! Well Pepper set the stage Monday and repelled off of the cat walk as "Indiana Pepper" to get the week started; our VBS music gal, Ms. Toni, was lost on Tuesday and repelled down to stage; our actors, Chandler and Dillon,the Kangaroo Hunter, repelled down Wednesday during their skit; and on Thursday since everything had been so "Incredible" this week--"Mommy Incredible, better known as Elasta Girl flew out of the ceiling yesterday! :-)
That's right--it's really me! I repelled off the 60 foot tall catwalk at our church--so fun and exciting! The younger kiddos really loved it, Laynie wanted to be Violet all day. Maybe for Halloween, we'll just be the Incredibles (just got to get Trey on board with that!)

Moving Again?

What's that, new music you hear? That's right I was an American Idol fan that wanted nothing more than our AR boy to win. If I would have lived closer to Conway you better believe I would have tried to see Kris in the parade! :-) So why the new music you ask? Well.....

It looks as though we may be moving to Conway or at least Conwayish. Not sure of all the details yet, but more than likely it's really happening. I have loved every minute of Van Buren: church, friends, City Heights, PTA (I could go on and on and I will before the move actually occurs). There are still many details that have to occur, but looks like we're headed South.

Vampires and VBS!

WOW--it's been about 6 weeks since I posted anything to my blog and you (if there is anyone left who still checks on my blog) may wonder what in the world is Beth Ann doing with her time! So I thought I would just tell you....

Vampires--Yes I read them all (not in a week like a couple of friends I know), but I read every single word of the Twilight series. I was a little unsure as to whether or not to read them, but I LOVED IT! Okay Book 4 got a little weird (in my opinion) in parts, but overall I liked them, will read them again one day I'm sure, and would highly recommend them! :-) I know it may sound crazy to some of you, but I like Bella and Edward! (I even liked Buffey the Vampire Slayer! lol)The first movie was OK, but DEFINITELY not as good as the book. Can't wait for New Moon to come out in the fall!!!

Now on to more pressing matters--VBS! Vacation Bible School is next week, and I have been working with our Children's Minister and new Children's Director along with 2 or 3 'youth/college' workers for about two weeks straight (and trying to be a Mommy on top of all that). All I have to say is thank goodness for grandparents who want to play with the kids! Things are going well and hopefully we can get all 700 kids registered smoothly come Monday morning--CRAZY! Here's a sneak peek at what the Pre-school stage looks like. I don't have any pictures of the worship center/elementary stage yet.
