We had a wonderful time with all of our family (and friends) during the Christmas holidays!
Christmas Memories--Part 2 (Dec. 19th)
December 19th was a big day--school was out and Laynie had her first party at school. Of course myself and 3 other moms had to help with the party so it was a busy day, but a lot of fun. We played Christmas bingo, made ornaments, had lots of goodies, and opened some presents too! As soon as school was out, we were off to Little Rock for my family Christmas.
Friday night started at Aunt Wanda's with chili and a trolley ride to look at lights in the city. Let me tell you I had really, really high expectations for this trolley ride (because I LOVE Christmas lights)!!! It wasn't all I has hoped for, but the evening ended well at the Capitol and the kids had a great time! FYI--We are still looking for something wonderful to do as a family on the Friday before our Christmas gathering, if you have a good suggestion leave me a comment please.
We stayed at my Aunt's that night and had family Christmas the next day. As usual, everyone was assigned something to make. In my opinion, one of the best parts of Christmas parties is eating and swapping recipes with everyone. I must say the Cranberry Punch I made (thanks to my friend Tammy) was a huge success and I think many of my family members have already made it for at least one party or another! :0) Now I just need Uncle Gary's or Maranda's brisket marinade--yummy!!
Lots of people ask at sometime or another, what is your favorite day of the year? I never know what to say, but it hit me this year. I LOVE Christmas (even if it's wild and crazy and too short like this year) and I LOVE being with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. So no matter what day of the year it falls on--Family Christmas with the Seamans family is the BEST, Mamaw and Papaw started a good tradition with all of us, and I'm glad we have kept it going. I know they would be happy looking down to see all of us together at the holidays!

Christmas Memories--Part 1 (Jones)
Trey and I weren't sure what to expect from the 3 year-old Christmas program at church, but it was adorable!! All of the children had made a reindeer shirt using their footprint and hand prints and were wearing antlers too! I must say Jones felt right at home up on stage (maybe a little too comfortable at some points)! The teachers did a wonderful job teaching the children many different types of Christmas songs and poems. I think "The Chubby Little Snowman" was my favorite!! It goes:
The chubby little snowman had a carrot nose,
Along came a bunny and what do you suppose?
The hungry little bunny looking for his lunch,
Ate the snowman's carrot nose, nibble, nibble, crunch!
Ornament Tag
Yes I realize I am at least a month overdue on this (Meredith) but I want you to know I had good intentions to post a picture and story of my favorite Christmas ornament. Before Christmas when everyone was still faithfully blogging other than myself that is, Meredith tagged me to share with everyone my favorite ornament so here is my memory.
Every year for as long as I can remember, my Aunt Becky has given all of her nieces a special Christmas ornament. The ornaments are all so special, and I can't wait to see what she has chosen for us each year. Well I don't know if she realized my circumstances when she bought this one, or if God just used her gift so I could always remember my life from 2001. Trey and I had decided to try and start a family that fall. I was 8 weeks pregnant and had just begun to tell people we were having a baby and it seems like as soon as we told I began to have trouble and the pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. Yes I know it was not the end of the world, but I was so sad because I wanted nothing more than to be a Mommy. Well in December I opened my ornament and here is was a chorus of baby angels wishing me Merry Christmas! It is my absolute favorite ornament and I imagine it will always hold a special place in my heart until I'm in heaven and can meet the little one that God has there awaiting me.

Birthday Girl!
The way things have been around my house lately, it's only fitting that I'm a couple of days late posting a Happy Birthday picture of my Laynie! At least we weren't late for our celebration of her 6th birthday--she's a New Year's baby and we've had a great couple of days to celebrate her!
