Snow Days!

Yesterday we definitely awoke to a surprise snow day--I had no idea snow was even in the forecast, but there was an inch or two on the ground. By the middle of the day it was snowing like crazy!!! The snowflakes were huge, and it was beautiful!

I don't know if my children are crazy or smart, but they didn't want to play in the snow yesterday at all (I think because is was snowing so much)? That decision was fine with me until late last night when I began to feel guilty that I had not made them a snowman after seeing all of the area snowmen when we ventured out last night to 'drive in the snow.' Daddy is definitely still a teenage boy when it comes to 'driving in the snow'--he even asked the kids if they wanted to do a doughnut?!? They said yes even though they don't know what a doughnut is, but no worries, Mommy vetoed that real quick! :)

So snowday #2 began with Daddy going to work, the kids sleeping in and Mommy finishing 'The Lucky One' by Nicholas Sparks (really good read, by the way)! Waffles for breakfast and some cartoons, then the snow adventure. Play in the snow, snowball fight, and yes I even built them a snowman. It was however, not as big as Laynie would have liked it, but that's what Daddy's are for, right?

Who knows how many more of these lazy, I mean snow days we will get--but enjoy them with your kiddos. We are off to make Valentine goodies now--I'll post pics of those treats in a bit! Happy snow day to you!

My Friend, Meredith

Meredith--doesn't that name make you smile? Well if you know the Meredith I'm thinking of then your answer is, "Yes it does." She became my friend on a camping trip one night long, long ago--and I'm so glad she did! She's one of my forever friends, and I have very few 'friend' memories that don't include her in one way or another. I often tell her she's the smartest person I know, to which she just laughs and says, "Oh Beth Ann, no I'm not!" She is though....

She's not only the sweetest gal I know, a great Mom, a super smart pharamacist, a talented musician (& majorette), now she can add computer guru to her title--ok that may be a stretch, but she is good at just about whatever she puts her hand to.

Her new love is blog design...she did my makeover, so what do you think? Does it make you smile? When I open blogger and see Mer's handiwork, it makes me smile... just like she does! Now just maybe I will be inclined to blog more, right dad?

Oh and by the way, the pics in the header (and other various places) are compliments of my other bestest friend from back home, Leigh Ann. I could go on and on about her in my friend memories as well! She's awesome too!:) For those of you reading this in the Ft. Smith/Van Buren Region looking for a photographer, she's your girl. A New Look!

Yes--we are undergoing blog reconstruction on my site. Hopefully in the next couple of days it will be totally remodeled and inspire me to blog more frequently!!!

I already have a few posts in mind, so be watching and waiting (if anybody still even checks on me since I have been such a terrible, terribly blogger as of late)!

So Far in January...

How can it already be almost the end of January? It's almost been a month since I have blogged--where have I been, and what in the world have I been doing? Well here are just a few things...

We started the year by celebrating Laynie's 7th birthday!!! I can't believe our little girl is so old! I will post birthday party pics at some point, when I find them (they are lost somewhere in my computer)!
We played in a little bit of snow in the freezing COLD!
We have gotten a few new things for the house and are gearing up to paint a couple of rooms.
We began playing UpWard basketball--Daddy is Laynie's coach, and her team is the Ladybugs. They are having fun! :)
And Jones finally managed to get back "on sunny" at preschool this week! :)That about sums up our month so far--hope you have had a good one so far too! :)

Leading Up to Christmas Break

I LOVE everything about Christmas--the celebration of Jesus' birth, Christmas carols, lights and decorations, yummy food, shopping, wrapping (love, love, love that), & all the magic that Santa Claus brings to children--so you can imagine that I had very high hopes of going all out with my blog for this holiday--new background, header, Christmas songs playing, etc; however, due to the late date of my FIRST December post (yes I know it has been a while, thank you for reminding me EVERYONE--ha/ha)I'll for go all that mumbo jumbo and get you caught up to speed on us! Hmmmmmmmmmm, where shall I begin? Christmas photos of the house I guess.....a good friend once told me you should take pictures of your house every year to see how your decorating evolves!At the end of November I was invited to a SS get together for some ladies here in Vilonia where an interior decorator came in and showed us how to use wire mesh while decorating for Christmas--I ended up really liking my tree and mantle this, but I stared at my tree for a good 3 or 4 days trying to figure out where to begin and how to start! :) In the end, I'm a huge fan of wire mesh, if you haven't tried it, buy some next year!!! Jones' school had a Christmas program that all the grandparents came to town for so they could watch him perform on stage. His class sang 3 songs, quoted Luke 2:7-9 and, said a poem which was super sweet. It was very hard to hear in the gym, and my video camera is broken :( so you only get a few pictures. Now for the school parties--it was Happy Birthday Jesus for Jones and a Polar Express Party for Laynie. I started my Friday morning by delivering both children to school, rushing home to wrap a few more presents and throw some peanut butter fudge together, grabbed the ice cream for Jones' party and was off to celebrate Jesus' birthday with him! We had pizza, cupcakes and ice cream, played bingo (which Jones won), and then they performed their Christmas program again for the Mommies! Below is just a little bit of their first song. Jones LOVES to sing and perform! :)
After his party we headed to Laynie's school to help Mrs. Dayberry get everything set up for the Polar Express Party--the kids even wore their PJs all day to school!Whew! What a day we had--and we still had one more stop to go! We ended the day by going to Benton on Friday night and seeing some of my extended family at Aunt Becky's. This year on Friday night the menu was red beans and rice, then we did a little Christmas light looking, & took a tour of my cousin Leslie's new home (which I absolutely LOVED)! So that's just a few of the things we did leading up to Christmas break--hopefully I will have a little time to post more about Christmas in the near future! (Near future, that a relative term for me, don't you think? :)
